Dream career

June 26th, 2009 -- Posted in Work | No Comments »

When I was growing up, I always wanted to be a lawyer. My mother always said that I would be good at it, as I always loved to argue. But I never went that route in life. Every once in a while I’ll start thinking about this type of career again. Especially when I see a commercial on TV for Rochester personal injury lawyer or something similar. But, at my age, I really can’t see anything coming out of this. When I was younger I really wished that I had of followed my dream. But, I guess I’ll just have to be content with the life that I do have.

Summer plans

June 18th, 2009 -- Posted in Crafts, Work | No Comments »

As the school year comes to an end (tomorrow), I have been making plans trying to figure out what to do with the children this summer. I have been also trying to figure out how I am going to work around them being home. Well, I have decided to try to revive my home crafting business. The first thing I have decided to do is to purchase some Business Stationery and Business Invitations to announce to the world that I am again open for business. I am hoping that by purchasing these Business Announcements
and business stationery that I will be able to get my name back out there as having some home made crafts for sale. So, if you find a business announcement in your mailbox, don’t be alarmed. It’s just me trying to drum up business.

Career goals

June 6th, 2009 -- Posted in Life, Work | No Comments »

Right now I work as a waitress at a very busy family restaurant and quite happy with the job I do. But I do have different dreams and career goals that I would love to achieve. One area that I would love to get into is programming and by what I have been reading lately while checking out different jobs in programming, this field is growing by leaps and bounds. But right now a career switch just isn’t in the cards for me. When my children are old enough to look after themselves, I do plan on going back to school. After all, I don’t want to be a waitress for the rest of my life. But for now it suits me and my current needs.

My eyes are starting to cross

March 6th, 2009 -- Posted in Internet, Work, income | No Comments »

I have spent so much time on the Internet these past few days that my eyes are starting to go cross eyed. Nope, I haven’t really been doing a lot of blogging, I have been busy writing a 40 page report on online dating. Yes, you read that right, 40 pages. So far it has taken me three days to get as far as I have. Oh, what I would give to start writing about something else right now. Even a topic such as rock tumblers sounds like a great idea to me. Oh well, a couple of more days and my report will be done and I will be able to submit and get paid. Honestly at this point the thought of getting paid is the only thing that is keeping me routed to my chair. I’ll be sure to let you know when all 40 pages are finally done.

Finally fed up!

March 6th, 2009 -- Posted in Family, Work | No Comments »

Well I knew it was going to happen. I just didn’t know when. My husband has been very unhappy with his present job lately and I knew that he was going to crack any day now. Well it happened. But in a much milder way than I thought it would. For years now he has been using his own personal cell phone for work calls. And has been footing the bill himself. Well, yesterday he went in and got his number changed and refuses to give it to his work. If they want to contact him they will have to call the house. He kind of gave them a couple of choices. They could either get him a work cell phone or offer him a toll free number. The choice is theirs. But from this day forward, they won’t be able to call his cell phone and him have to pay for it.

I now have a uniform

October 19th, 2008 -- Posted in Work | No Comments »

After returning to work a month ago I finally have received my complete uniform. Last night I picked up a couple of shirts and an apron and now I’m good to go. When I first started back I had to go out and purchase a new pair of Dansko shoes and a new pair of black pants. So tonight when I go to work I will actually look like I work there. In the past month I have ruined two shirts from all the grease that I work with so having these work shirts is going to save me a pile of money on shirts. Hopefully now that I have my complete uniform I won’t have to make any more purchases for work and can just totally concentrate on bringing in the paychecks and not spending the money out for work clothes.

Work ethics

October 8th, 2008 -- Posted in Work | No Comments »

What is it with people? There is something that is happening at my work that has gotten me to wondering whether this happens at all places of employment. And that would be people showing up late for work on a regular basis. Have they never heard of Festina watches? We have a couple of staff members who are constantly late. And when their late the rest of the staff have to pick up their slack until they arrive. It’s not fair to the other staff and they have been talked to repeatedly about their continued lateness. Where in the world is people’s work ethics these days? Do they think that companies are so hard up for employees right now that we will put up with just about anything?

Stressful weekend

October 6th, 2008 -- Posted in Work | No Comments »

What a crazy stressful weekend I just put in at work. I really hope that I don’t ever experience another weekend like this in a very long time to come. Saturday and Sunday both I had two different staff members call in sick. It wasn’t bad enough that they called in, but they didn’t do it until 5:15 when they were supposed to be on the floor at 5:00. And to make matters worse I had one girl call up and quit right on the spot. No notice or nothing. So for both days we worked two people short which made the customers very unhappy as it took a bit longer for them to get their food. But in all honesty, what could I do?? I had to work with what I had. Hopefully this was a one time thing and the next time someone is sick they give me a little notice so I can find people to replace them.

Silent treatment is over

September 18th, 2008 -- Posted in Family, Work | No Comments »

Yay! He’s speaking to me again. As it turns out, last week he was having a seriously horrible week at work and his mood had nothing to do with me. So even though he was having a bad week, I’m glad it had nothing to do with me.

Well on Tuesday he asked me to type up a resume for him. This is when I knew that he had enough. He already has had two different offers of employment from other companies, but if he went to work for them he will end up taking a serious cut in pay. Well he doesn’t want to do that. So for now he will stay but he is putting his resume out there to other companies that pay about the same as what he is getting now. Hopefully he finds something different soon. I really don’t think I could survive another week like I did last week.

But at least things are back to normal for now.

Running out of money

September 12th, 2008 -- Posted in Life, Work | No Comments »

I know that I’ve been complaining a lot lately about our money situation. This is part of the reason why I am headed back into the workforce. With all the expenses coming due for the kids school and our day to day expenses, our dollars just don’t seem to be stretching quite as much as it has in the past.

Well now I need to go out and spend more money. A year and a half ago when I quit my job I had no intentions of ever returning so I threw out everything that was related to work. Well now that I’m going back, I need to go out and purchase some new uniform pieces. Honestly I never ever thought I would be headed back there so I figured that I would never need this clothes again. Well I do. So this weekend I have to shopping again. More money will have to be spent. But with a steady paycheck coming in once again, I will be able to recoup this money.
