Last night I got a phone call from my daughter’s homeroom teacher. He was calling me to personally invite me to “meet the teacher” night at her school. Now normally I don’t go to these things are they are usually held on a Tuesday night (I work every Tuesday), but this year they are holding it on a Wednesday. So I told him and my daughter that I will attend. Hopefully I get to meet some of her other teachers as well.

Well the children finally went back to school this morning. And I for one cannot be happier. My daughter is going into grade 7 and was looking forward to it very much. This was all she talked about this past summer. My son on the other hand was not quite as excited. He is going into grade 5 and honestly if he had two more weeks of summer vacation left he would have been quite happy. I think maybe he might miss playing his PS3 games all day every day. But me for one am very glad this day finally arrived.

Can you tell that I’m excited?? The kids have only one week left until they go back to school and I couldn’t be happier!! This has been a very long summer. These two kids have spent most of their summer fighting and I haven’t been able to get very much done these past couple of months. I have a couple of quilting jobs that I really need to get a start on. But having two kids underfoot has prevented me from getting started. But in one week they will be back in school and I can haul out my sewing machine once again.

My daughter is just finishing up grade 6 and we just found out that she made the honor roll! Thursday night is her awards dinner so she will be receiving her certificate then. I guess now I’ll have to find one of our digital cameras to be able to take some pictures at this event. I am so proud of her! She worked really hard all year and I am quite happy to see all her efforts pay off this way. I can’t wait to see her on Thursday night receive her certificate!

Tomorrow is our annual family fun day at my son’s elementary school. Both the kids are quite excited about this. A couple of years ago we took them to this event and they both had a blast. This is why they are both looking forward to the day. Hopefully (fingers crossed) we don’t get the rain that they are predicting. This would really spoil the fun. If we do get the rain we’re supposed too, we probably won’t go. So for the kid’s sake, I really hope the rain holds off for awhile.

I honestly can’t believe that a year of school is almost behind us once again. And… once again this year both of the kids did excellent. As of right now they will both be passing their grades and my daughter has even made the honor roll this year as well. Pretty impressive I would have to say. So now I’ve got to start looking for grading presents. My daughter would love to receive a horse tack or anything to do with horses and my son is quite interested in sports. So I think coming up with a suitable grading present for both shouldn’t be too much of a chore this year. Now all I have to do is get off my butt and do it.

I can’t believe that the kids only have four weeks of school left before summer vacation. Man… this school year went by so fast. All in all both kids had a great year! My daughter enjoyed her first year of middle school and made some pretty decent marks. My son will be finishing grade four and will be in his final year of elementary school next year. Where does the time go? Soon they will have their summer break and it won’t be any time at all before I’ll be posting all about their back to school adventures.

Yay! March break it over. What a long week! Last week both the kids were home and I have to say, that this was probably the longest week of my life. I normally don’t look forward to Monday mornings but this morning, you couldn’t keep me in bed. Now with both kids out of the house, I can finally get cracking on all my work that needs to be done. I have a lot of housework to do, need to do some blogging, write some articles on personalized gifts and do some grocery shopping. But even knowing all this work lies ahead of me, I’m still happy that it’s finally Monday!

Most of you may not know this, but I work outside the home as a waitress at a very busy family restaurant. Now most days I absolutely love my job, but physically it is getting kind of hard on me. I am on my feet constantly and most days am running around the restaurant as opposed to walking. This is why I have decided that this may be the time for me to make a career change.
I have decided to check out an online university to see what type of career change I may be interested in. I discovered a site over at Western Governors University which offers a lot of online courses that I could possibly be interested in. One of the courses that I have been heavily checking out is their bachelors degree online, and so far I like what I see. Not only are the classes done completely online (which eliminates travel time), but their professors are some of the best in their field. And when it’s all said and done, I will have a degree that is highly recognized in the industry. So… while I’m still making up my mind on whether this will be a good move for me, I will continue to check out this site a little more closely.
I was asked to check out this website and give my honest opinion of Western Governors University, for which I’m receiving cash compensation.

Although I graduated over 20 years ago, I can honestly tell you that I don’t remember ever having the amount of homework sent home that my two youngest kids have. My daughter’s school is the worst. Right now she’s got four BIG projects on the go. You would swear to god that each teacher thinks they are the only teacher that these kids have. My daughter spends hours every day working on these projects and I’m starting to get a little annoyed. She shouldn’t have to sit in class all day and then come home and do homework all night. When does she get a little me time?? I think the next time these kids have a parent teacher conference I’m going to bring up my concerns with her teachers. Maybe they’ll listen to me??
