Trying to stay afloat

November 9th, 2011 -- Posted in Life | No Comments »

I’ve got to tell you all that life around here is getting pretty difficult. So I’ve started looking for free samples and/or coupons. If there’s anyway I can save my money a little extra money, I’m willing to do it. I have recently joined a site that offers free product samples on items such as eyelash growth products and things of that nature and I’m really hoping that over the next few weeks that they offer other product samples as well. Yes, I know they are only samples, but if I can save a little cash by using them, then I say why not.

I’m broke!

September 1st, 2011 -- Posted in Life | No Comments »

Man… I am so broke now it’s not even funny. Between really small paychecks from work, computer problems here at home and trying to get two kids ready for school, my bank account is in a very bad state. I had planned on purchasing my father in law some kia optima custom floor mats for his birthday but until I get more money in my bank account I don’t think that’s going to happen. I absolutely do love summer and having the extra vacation time off from work, but honestly I can’t afford summer. Oh well, summer vacations are almost over and soon I should start seeing bigger paychecks and a higher bank account once again.

Hurricane weather

August 27th, 2011 -- Posted in Life | No Comments »

Here in Eastern Canada we don’t normally see to much hurricane type weather. But apparently we are supposed to be getting some of this hurricane Irene. It has been all over the news that this massive storm is supposed to hit our province sometime later today. We have been doing some preparations getting ready for it just in case it hits harder than it’s supposed to. I’m not hugely concerned about it, but I am really scared for the people that are right in the middle of it. So stay safe all and hopefully none of us will get hit as badly as they are forecasting and will all be safe and sound when it’s all over.

I’m back!

July 25th, 2011 -- Posted in Life | No Comments »

As you can see it’s been a few days since I’ve last been in here posting. Well there is a really good reason for that. Last week my computer died a slow horrible death and I was unable to get onto the Internet for a few days. After messing around with it for a couple of days with no success I finally broke down and bought myself a new laptop. So… life on the Internet should slowly get back to normal for me and hopefully I won’t be out of commission again like this for a very long time.

Finally a nice day!

May 25th, 2011 -- Posted in Life | No Comments »

We are finally supposed to be getting a nice day today. After three weeks of constant rain, I really do think it’s about time! So I think I will put off the articles on muscle supplements that I’m supposed to write today and go outside and finally start some of my outside work. Because of all the rain that we’ve had over the past few weeks I really haven’t been able to be outside much. So I’m going to take advantage of this wonderful day and hopefully get a lot of work done outside today.

Switching my insurance company

May 17th, 2011 -- Posted in Life | No Comments »

I have been with the same insurance company for the past eight years. Well when my insurance renewal came up again this year, I decided to see if I couldn’t find a better deal somewhere else. Well I have seemed to find a better deal. My premiums will stay about the same but the bonus I found with this new insurance company is that the offer a roadside assistance plan at no extra cost. So for this added benefit alone I think it’s worth switching companies. I really hate to change over but if I can get a better deal somewhere else, then I guess I’m going to make the switch.

Getting back into my routine

May 10th, 2011 -- Posted in Life | No Comments »

Well now with Mother’s day over and my birthday over it’s once again time for me to get back on my routine. I have let a lot of thing slip over the past few days and now I have to face the music and get these things done. I have tons of work to do on the computer and a lot of housework to catch up on as well. But I enjoyed my few days off so I really don’t mind having to do all this extra work over the next few days. I enjoyed myself so I guess that’s the main thing.

How to Compare Diamond Weight from Two Different Designs

April 2nd, 2011 -- Posted in Life | No Comments »

How to Compare Diamond Weight from Two Different Designs

When you are trying to get the best deal on a diamond, carat weight is one of the biggest ways to compare two different diamond purchases. It is hard to compare one diamond engagement ring with a center stone and various small diamonds surrounding it with another design that may offer a solitaire stone that is larger. People think they can use carat weight as an accurate appraisal of the amount of diamond in each, but that’s not true. There are differences in color, cut, clarity that can affect the value of the jewelry, also. Also, the carat total weight (CTW) of diamonds can be a bit misleading when the center stones are not weighed separately.

Clarity, Cut, and Color

The other three C’s of clarity, cut, and color can have a dramatic impact on the price of a diamond. Smaller diamonds may enhance the visual look of an engagement ring, but they may not be a valuable as an Asscher cut diamond or a high grade diamond of unusual clarity or color. Don’t assume that carat weight is the end all and is all of diamond grading, and don’t be fooled by the carat total weight that may be advertised.

It’s Legal

If you have a bunch of smaller stones in a diamond design the vendor is allowed to list the CTW of all the diamonds, instead of listing the center diamond stone separately. What this does is it can inflate the diamond carat weight of the center stone, even if the smaller diamonds are of poorer quality. It can also inflate the price, based on carat weight alone, if you do not ask for the carat weight of the center stone alone. Only by knowing the true carat weight of the main stone in the diamond ring can you accurately compare it to another ring that may not have smaller diamonds surrounding it.

Going to start spending a lot of money

March 4th, 2011 -- Posted in Life | No Comments »

So once again it’s that time of year that I start to spend a lot of money on personalized gifts. I have so many birthdays to buy for, mother’s day presents to buy and grading presents to look into as well. You would think that Christmas time would be the most expensive time of the year for me for gifts but no, it seems like it’s around this time of year that I end up spending a lot of cash. But with the Internet and Internet shopping being so close to my fingertips it really isn’t that difficult of a job to find the perfect gifts. It just usually costs me a bit of cash.

Off to the hairdressers

February 22nd, 2011 -- Posted in Life | No Comments »

Yes, I know this probably doesn’t sound like a major deal in life to most people, but let me tell you all a little story. I absolutely hate going to the hairdresser’s. I can’t stand strange people touching me and yes, that includes my hair. But… every two years I head out to the hairdresser’s whether I need to or not. Well, right now I really need to. I need to get a cut and a dye pretty bad. This way maybe I’ll look like I’m in my 40’s instead of my 50’s. Who knows, maybe I’ll invest in some hgh supplements and start getting rid of those wrinkles as well. So if I survive my trip to the hairdresser’s I’ll be sure to let you all know.
