Oh… the memories

Last night my husband and I were looking through the pictures on our camcorder and I have to say that I absolutely loved it. There were so many pictures on it that I had completely forgot about. There was a lot of pictures of the kids when they were quite a bit smaller and it was nice to sit back and replay all the memories in my head. Life gets so busy these days, that sometimes it’s just best to sit back and enjoy the memories. Kids don’t stay small for very long, so this was actually quite nice just to sit back and remember the days when they were so little.

I’m almost nuts!

Here it is only 10:00 am on a Monday morning, and I’m just about completely nuts!! My children are home from school today due to weather issues and they haven’t stopped fighting since 7:00 am this morning. Nothing…. and I mean nothing I have said to them have made a difference. I’ve even put them both in their rooms for a little time out and they still continue to fight through the walls. I really hope the roads are clear tomorrow, or I really may end up in the nut house.

Sick kid

Well once again I have a sick kid at my house. I don’t know if this child gets sick so much because of the sever change in temperature that we seem to get or possibly I need to invest in an air filter to clear the air in this house. But it seems like this child gets sick all the time. Thankfully it’s the weekend so he will have three days to recover. But I still feel bad for him. He gets the flue more than anybody I know.

I wish I had his energy

My youngest son is only 9, but he has the energy of a kid twice his size and age. Man… I wish I had some of his energy. This kid did not go to sleep last night until after 11:00 pm and this morning, you would swear to god that he got 12 hours sleep. He was wired for sound this morning. I wish I knew his secret. I eat right, avoid most medications (so I don’t have to worry about any side effects of adipril), and try to get a decent amount of sleep. But I still don’t have the energy this kid has. Maybe one of these days he’ll let me in on his little secret.

Homework

Although I graduated over 20 years ago, I can honestly tell you that I don’t remember ever having the amount of homework sent home that my two youngest kids have. My daughter’s school is the worst. Right now she’s got four BIG projects on the go. You would swear to god that each teacher thinks they are the only teacher that these kids have. My daughter spends hours every day working on these projects and I’m starting to get a little annoyed. She shouldn’t have to sit in class all day and then come home and do homework all night. When does she get a little me time?? I think the next time these kids have a parent teacher conference I’m going to bring up my concerns with her teachers. Maybe they’ll listen to me??

Santa’s workshop

At my son’s school, he has the opportunity to purchase some small gifts for his family members. Yesterday was the day that his class was able to go and purchase these gifts. When he got home from school he gave his father, his sister and I our gifts that he had purchased (yeah I know, it’s not Christmas. But he couldn’t wait!). And let me tell you all, that he did really well. He bought his father a measuring tape. He bought me a little duck candle. And he purchased his sister a stuffed animal and a pair of socks. As you can see, he did really well in his shopping. At least he didn’t buy his sister some breeches. LOL. Now his sister has asked her father if he will take her to the store to buy presents for us all. So, I think it’s going to be a very cute Christmas.

My son is bored

As you seen from my last post, my kids are home from school today. And…. they are already driving me nuts!! It’s only 10 in the morning and the amount of fighting that has taken place has been unreal. All my son (who’s 9) has been doing is complaining that he is bored and has nothing to do. It’s not like he doesn’t have a rackmount lcd TV to watch or massive video games to play or anything like that. He’s just bored. If this keeps up, I’m either going to end up spending a lot of time in my room for me time, or he is going to spend a lot of time in his room. I haven’t decided which option to go for quite yet. But I know it’s coming.

Long weekend coming up

This week the kids will be home from school Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It’s good for them, but bad for me. When they spend too much time together they have a tendency to fight and three days off together really isn’t a good thing. They have Friday off because of parent teacher meetings. So if I’m not around much over the weekend, one of two things happened. First they fought so much I ran away. Or second they fought so much I went crazy. Take your pick. All I know is it’s going to be an extremely long weekend.

Putting off things

I must be the worst procrastinator that I know. Over the weekend I was supposed to help both kids get a start on a couple of big projects. But did I do this?? No I did not. Both days I had a really busy shift at work and when I got home, I was just too tired to do anything. So I put them off. Now I have to try to do a little bit each night with both of them in hopes of getting them done. This is going to be a little difficult as I do have to work a couple of days this week and my daughter has something after school one of these days. But hopefully we will get most of it done and just have to finish things up on the weekend.

The end of a very…. long weekend

I survived the kid’s five day weekend. Yay!! I one point during the weekend I was checking out Outer Banks vacation rentals just in case, but thankfully it didn’t come to that. If your a regular reader of this blog, then you are well aware of how much my two younger kids fight and how much this drives me batty! Well this weekend was no exception and by last night I was so ready for them to go back to school. Thankfully I have a few weeks ahead of me before they have any more time off. Maybe I can recuperate from this weekend by then and be ready for the next round of fighting.
