Last Friday my son brought home his report card. I have to tell you all that I was highly impressed with how well he did as well as mildly surprised. He got all A’s and B’s on his report card and he had excellent behavior. It was his behavior I was a little concerned about as this boy really, really likes to talk. Teachers in the past have had problems with his talking so I figured this one would too. But nothing was mentioned so I guess it’s not a problem this year. My daughter brings hers home tonight and unless there is something going on that I’m not aware of, I expect hers is going to be pretty amazing as well.

Well so far this has turned into a very long weekend and it’s only Saturday morning! The kids were home from school yesterday and spent most of the day fighting and so far this morning they have been at each other’s throats once again. Some of the reason is because it’s bee raining for the past three days so they aren’t able to go outside at all and are stuck inside with each other. And the other reason I think is to see how nuts they can make me. Oh well…. Monday is coming.

For the past 12 years of my daughter’s life she has been pretty much a tom boy. She really hasn’t cared about clothes, hair, make-up or all the other girly things in life. But lately she has started to become a girl. The past month or so she has been doing her hair in the mornings quite nicely, wearing matching clothes and jewelry and has been mentioning that she would like to have a prom dress for the final dance in June. Trust me I liked her better as a tom boy. But being a girl I knew this was bound to happen. I just wish she was a bit older before she decided to turn into a girly girl.

My daughter’s school is sending home their mid term reports tomorrow and I’m a little nervous to see how she’s doing. I have seen some of the tests that she has brought home and some of them aren’t really good. Now this is really strange for her as normally she does very well in school. But maybe grade 7 is proving to be a little more difficult for her. Oh well she still has the second half of the term to bring these marks up so hopefully she will do better once she gets her final report card.

My 12 year old daughter is freaking out! Today is the first day of three that she will be receiving a needle. And… to say that she’s freaked out and not looking forward to this event is a mild understatement. I personally think she will do just fine. Hopefully once she gets the first one out of way she won’t be quite so freaked out when she gets the other two. I know she’ll be okay, she’s just not really happy at the moment.

My daughter brought home a pamphlet yesterday from school. The pamphlet was to invite all 12 years olds to join Air Cadets. I read through the pamphlet and thought it was something that she would really enjoy doing. You have the opportunity to earn trophies and awards, learn all types of activities and make new friends. There is only one problem with this situation. It is in town and she would have to be driven there and picked up every Wednesday night. And… I don’t drive in town. So it looks like she won’t be able to go. I just wish they had something like this out here and then she would be able to join.

The kids have only been in school for two weeks and so far both of them have come home complaining of bullying! I’m really getting tired of this crap. I put up with an entire year of it last year with my daughter and now it seems that both her and him are having troubles with the bullies. The schools are supposed to have a zero tolerance policy against bullying and I think I’m going to have to make sure that they enforce this. One kid to deal with is bad enough, but two… enough is enough!

Well the children finally went back to school this morning. And I for one cannot be happier. My daughter is going into grade 7 and was looking forward to it very much. This was all she talked about this past summer. My son on the other hand was not quite as excited. He is going into grade 5 and honestly if he had two more weeks of summer vacation left he would have been quite happy. I think maybe he might miss playing his PS3 games all day every day. But me for one am very glad this day finally arrived.

Can you tell that I’m excited?? The kids have only one week left until they go back to school and I couldn’t be happier!! This has been a very long summer. These two kids have spent most of their summer fighting and I haven’t been able to get very much done these past couple of months. I have a couple of quilting jobs that I really need to get a start on. But having two kids underfoot has prevented me from getting started. But in one week they will be back in school and I can haul out my sewing machine once again.

Well the countdown is on. Friday afternoon the kids will be out of school for their summer vacation. What this means for me is that in two and a half day’s time, I will have a couple of kids home for a couple of months and will get the pleasure of listening to them fight every day. If things go the way they normally do with these two kids, by the end of the summer I will be looking at some Branson vacation packages just to recharge my batteries. Oh well, it’s going to happen so I’m just going to enjoy my last few days of peace to the fullest.
