Very expensive shopping trip

August 13th, 2008 -- Posted in Kids, School | 1 Comment »

Well last night we went out and purchased all the kid’s back to school clothing. This was a very expensive shopping trip for us. Both kids needed two pairs of sneakers, some t shirts, some sweat shirts, pants and socks and underwear. It’s not so bad when your purchasing for one, but double your purchases for two and this can put a person in the poor house. I don’t know how some parents do it when they have to send four or five kids back to school. I know for us it takes a little dent out of the budget each year so I can just imagine what it’s like for these parents. But at least that part is all done and now all we have to concentrate on is purchasing the rest of their supplies.

Two birthdays

August 2nd, 2008 -- Posted in Kids | 2 Comments »

Having one child turn 10 tomorrow and one turning 8 on Monday has it’s advantages as well as it’s disadvantages. The advantages would be we only have to have one party for both and only have to spring for one cake. But the major disadvantage is is that we have to purchase two presents at the same time. Like today my husband went out and purchased them both a DS. It’s a good thing they were on sale, but it was still quite pricey. Oh well, birthdays only come once a year so I guess I don’t mind shelling out the money for both presents at the same time.

Dennis the Menace

July 31st, 2008 -- Posted in Kids, Life | 1 Comment »

Yesterday my neighbor gave my son the nickname “Dennis the Menace”. Do you all remember Dennis from TV years ago. He was the neighborhood boy who got into tons of mischief and asked question after question to his neighbor George. Well my almost 8 year old son is a carbon copy of this character. All is he does all day is run, play and asked millions of questions. Honestly I don’t think this kid knows how to stop and take a breath. If he continues on in life the way he has been going, he’ll never need any diet pills to control his weight, he won’t be able to put any on because he doesn’t slow down. Although my neighbor gave this kid this nickname, it was all in good fun. Good thing too as this kid just worships the neighbor and I really don’t think he is going to slowdown any time soon.

Very deserving charity

July 24th, 2008 -- Posted in Kids, Life | No Comments »

Child Foundation Donate to Children in Need

I would like to speak to you all about a very deserving charity that spoke volumes to me. this charity is known as the Child Foundation. To make a long story short. This charity was founded in January of 2007 to raise money to help sick children who have physical defects and require surgery. 100% of the money this charity raises goes to the surgeries. Unlike other charities who take a portion of any donation made for their business costs. This charity believes that any monies raised should and do go to the children in need.

Now you are probably asking yourself. How can I help. Well there are a couple of ways. If you would like to donate any amount, just click on the banner at the top and it will take you to their site. They will then give you a hand guided tour on how you can donate. And they even accept paypal! But if your unable to make a money contribution, you could also do a post about this worth while charity on your own blog. The faster the word gets out, the better chance that some of these children will have to get their much needed and deserved surgeries.

This charity offers this service to children world wide. So even if your not a US resident (I’m not) the children in your area could still benefit.

You are probably wondering why I have decided to post about this particular charity. Well having three kids of my own (healthy children thankfully), I very well could have been in a position of this kind myself. After reading all the stories about the children that this charity has helped, I just knew I had to get involved some how. So I choose to spread the message.

It’s a great cause with 100% of the proceeds going to the children. And as the saying goes “the children are our future”. So I have decided to invest in our future. Maybe you can too?!

Still practicing

July 17th, 2008 -- Posted in Kids, Music | 2 Comments »

Although school is over and done with for the summer, my daughter still continues to practice her violin faithfully.  I am actually quite surprised with this as when she was in school I had to fight with her constantly to do her daily practicing.  I guess it makes a difference when you “don’t have to” practice.  I’m not complaining by any means.  As the more practicing she does over the summer, the less skills she will have lost when she goes back.  But I’m also not getting my hopes up that this means that she will continue to practice faithfully when she goes back to school with no complaints.  Because then it won’t be fun and voluntary.  So I’ll just enjoy not fighting with her this summer and deal with “school practicing” when the time comes.

The Memory game

July 14th, 2008 -- Posted in Entertainment, Kids, Life | 1 Comment »

Last night my youngest son asked me to play a game on the computer with him. The game he wanted to play was the memory game. You know that one. You flip over cards and need to remember where the cards are so you can make matches. I knew my memory wasn’t the greatest, but I didn’t realize how bad it was. He kicked my butt four different times until I refused to play with him any more. He had a blast and was killing himself laughing because I couldn’t make any matches. But I’m going to fool him. I’m going to practice these games and the next time he wants to play I plan on kicking some Daniel “butt” of my own. LOL

I’m learning

July 7th, 2008 -- Posted in Kids | No Comments »

When we went on our camping trip this weekend I took the camcorder with us to get some pictures of the kids learning to swim. Their aunt and uncle have never seen them in the swimming pool and asked us if we would take some pictures of them the next time we went camping. So for an extra special treat I decided to film them instead. My husband was in the pool with them so it was up to me to take the footage. And I have to say that I did a pretty good job. I am learning all these new gadgets that he insists on buying, and I’m having fun in my learning adventure. Hopefully their aunt and uncle are pleased with what they see.

My little neighbor

July 4th, 2008 -- Posted in Kids, Life | No Comments »

I have a very small neighbor who is constantly following me around. She is only about 21 months old, but she is the cutest little kid that I’ve seen in a very long time. She is always hollering across the driveway at me for me to come over and sit with her. And if I don’t answer he right away she will keep hollering my name until I do answer her. She is so cute that it makes me almost want another baby in the house. Notice I said almost. hehe. I would just love to be able to purchase some baby gifts again. But since I’m not having any more babies, maybe I’ll just have to purchase gifts for my little neighbor or wait a few years for my grandchildren to arrive.

My daughter is sad today

June 28th, 2008 -- Posted in Kids, Life | No Comments »

For the past couple of months my daughter has been taking riding lessons from my aunt. She is really enjoying these lessons and looks forward to going to my aunt’s twice a week for them. But my aunt called me today to tell me that she is selling the horse. She doesn’t know how much longer she will be able to keep the horse. With everything prices skyrocketing on all products including horse supplies she really can’t afford to keep her horse any longer. When I informed my daughter of what was going to take place she got very upset. I’m going to try to get her into another riding school, but I don’t know how successful I will be because of the high cost of lessons (my aunt was doing it for free). But we will see.

Scrapbooking again

June 25th, 2008 -- Posted in Crafts, Kids | No Comments »

Last night decided to get back to the kid’s scrapbooks again. So I dug out all my supplies and pictures and started going through every again. I came across a lot of really nice pictures of the kids that I forgot I had, and instead of putting them in their scrapbooks, I have decided to purchase a digital frame to showcase these special pictures. I don’t have a lot of the kids pictures sitting around the house (they normally go into the scrapbooks) so I thought I would display these particular ones. As the kids get older, I may end up putting these pictures in the scrapbooks, but for now I think I’ll leave them out for everyone to look at.
