Last night we found out that we are going to get some new neighbors. Now, don’t get me wrong, in general I do like people. But with the troubles I’ve had in the past with neighbors, I do get a little anxious when I hear someone new is moving into the neighborhood. Last night they moved their trailer in and I’ve got to tell you all that this trailer is huge! Not big enough for a couple of home gyms or anything like that. But huge never the less. The kids are hoping that these new neighbors have kids they can play with. I’m just hoping that their nice and not trouble makers. Only time will tell I guess.

Man, I am so proud of myself! This was the first week in over two weeks that I have been able to manage to get any serious housework done. And I must say that I have been an extremely busy beaver. The biggest chore that I set out for myself was to clean out the little room that I had decided would be my home office. Now the reason for all this excitement, is that I planned on having this room well over a year ago and have just finally gotten into it! I have been bugging my husband all this time to help me get it cleaned out and situated but he kept putting me off. So this past week I bit the bullet and did it myself. I was finally able to get my computer, table and chair in it last night. I still have a lot of things to do in this room, but I really do think I will get it done quite quickly. So it was a very productive week and I’m looking forward to spending a lot more time in MY space.

Well it’s been a crazy six months as far as my father in law is concerned when it came to selling his house. He put his house up for sale about six months ago. In that time he had lots of visitors to his house, but only three offers. It seems like people now a days want something for nothing. Two of the offers that he had on his home were very insulting and he didn’t even consider them. Then about a month ago he got an offer on his home that he was willing to take. The closing date was supposed to be last Thursday, but when Thursday arrived, the buyers decided that they weren’t happy with the basement. So it looked like this deal would fall through as well. But over the weekend he and the buyers came to an agreement that they could all live with and his house is finally sold. Now he can get on with his life and cross this one thing off his to do list.

Well here we go again. I just got the kids back to school from a two week stay at home and my husband informs me that he is taking a week’s vacation next week. So…I will have him home for a week. But if he thinks he’s going to sit around and do nothing for a week, boy is he in for a surprise. I already have a major job picked out for him to do during that week. I have decided that next week will be the time that I will get him to put the new flooring in my home office. For the past six months he has used the excuse that he can’t put down the flooring because I have too much office furniture in there and he can’t get to the floor. So this week I plan on clearing the room out so the first of next week I can have my brand new flooring put up. I guess he won’t be so pleased that he took a week off, now will he?!

Well let me tell you all about a not so fun experience I had last night. Currently my hot water tank is located in my bedroom. Well last night I heard this swishing sound down the hall and went down to investigate. Well much to my dismay I found that my hot water tank broke. There was water all over the place. And since we have carpet in our bedroom, this made one heck of a mess. I was really wishing that I had a tankless water heater. So I took everything out of my room except for the bed and the dressers and grabbed the shop vac. I think I got most of the water sucked up. Hopefully it doesn’t ruin my carpet. But I guess time will tell on that one. So…did I really want to be cleaning up a huge water mess at 9:00 pm on a Thursday night?? No, I did not! But that’s what I got to do last night.

Well we may be moving after all. A few months ago my husband’s father put his house on the market and unfortunately for him, he hasn’t sold. So last night he asked my husband and I if we would be interested in purchasing it at a reduced price. He has decided to give it a couple of more months and if it hasn’t sold he will then sell it to us at a reduced price. I am really happy for us as it means that we may get our house sooner rather than later, but I am sad for him as he could possibly lose some money going this route. Well I’ll know within the next couple of months whether or not we are moving and if we will need to check out the truck rental companies in our area. And..as always, I’ll keep you all posted on the events.

When I was growing up, the house we lived in was extremely cold. It was so cold in the winter that if you placed a bucket of water on my bedroom floor at night time, the next morning it would be frozen. Well after 18 years of living in a freezer I vowed that when I grew up and had my own place I would never ever live in a cold house.
Well my house isn’t cold, but my bedroom is. Not quite as cold as the house I grew up in, but it’s running a close second. So every year when I know winter is on it’s way I haul out my heated mattress pads. Although these pads don’t make my room any warmer, they sure do make my bed a lot warmer. The only problem I have now is that I never want to get out of bed in the mornings.

My father in law has had his home on the market for almost two months now with no sale as of yet. Earlier on when he first put the home on the market he did have two offers, but due to financing problems these two offers fell through. He has had a lot of people come in and look at the place, but no takers yet. Yesterday his real estate agent had an agent caravan and some of the comments by real estate agents were pretty rude. All I can say is that they are lucky I wasn’t around or they would have certainly gotten a piece of my mind.
One agent in particular wouldn’t have wanted to meet me. She was overheard saying that his house is a complete tear down. There is nothing in that house worth saving. WTH?? It has four bedrooms, a complete basement and a garage. What more does she want in life. Thankfully my father in law didn’t hear her. It would have broken his heart to find out that these people (and I use that word lightly) thought his house was junk! One of these days he will find someone who appreciates his house. And until then I think these agents should probably keep their comments to themselves.

Tonight my husband and I have two appointments to view two different houses. One of the houses is not in our area where we have been looking, but since it’s now in foreclosure, the price is right. The other home is exactly in the area that we have been looking, but unfortunately it comes with a higher price tag. So we are going to view both of them and then decided if either house would be suitable for our family.
Thankfully were not in a real big hurry to purchase, so we can look around quite a bit to see if we can get a good deal. I absolutely refuse to spend money on a house that I don’t feel is worth the price tag. We can stay where were at for as long as we want so there isn’t any real pressure to purchase. The only pressure I’m feeling is the pressure I put on myself because I really do want a new home.

With only one income coming into our household, I am constantly looking for different ways to save money. I have been using Snapfish coupons, buying things in bulk and cutting out on most of the extras. I find during the summer months that it’s a whole lot easier to save money then when the kids are in school. During the school year I am spending a lot of money in gas driving them back and forth to the bus stop and spending a lot more in food money as they need snacks and lunch items. And don’t get me started on how much cash I fork out in a run of a week for different activities during the school year. Saving money is a hard thing to do for anyone, but everyday I am learning more and more about how to go about doing this.
