Signs of getting older

July 26th, 2008 -- Posted in Health, Life | 1 Comment »

Although I only turned 40 this past may, I have started to see the signs of getting older. Now I really don’t mind getting older, but I wish I could do it gracefully. I have more gray hair then a person in their 60’s and have noticed an increase in the amount of blackheads that are starting to cover my face. I do use dyes and creams and conditioners to combat the signs of aging. But some days I wonder if I’m not fighting a losing battle. I should have been a celebrity that way I could have “people” to help me grow old gracefully.

The Internet is a wonderful thing

July 14th, 2008 -- Posted in Friends, Health | 3 Comments »

Last week a friend of mine who does not have access to the Internet asked me to look up Phentermine no prescription for her. She is planning on trying to lose some weight before she gets married at the end of the year. She wants to loose about 70 pounds by the end of the year but wants to go about this in the most healthy and safe way. So being the nice person that I am, I gave her information off the Internet for other methods she could use to achieve her goals.

I am always amazed at the amount of information that a person can acquire just by typing in a few words. It never ceases to amaze me how far technology has come during the last 15 to 20 years.

Looking Good and Seeing Good

July 9th, 2008 -- Posted in Health, Life | No Comments »

The time has come for me to get a new pair of prescription glasses. I’ve had the same pair of glasses for the past four years and I really think that it’s time for a change. I have been checking out zennioptical.com for my latest pair and I have to say that I am highly impressed with the variety of glasses that they have. They supply consumers with regular glasses, sunglasses, and bifocals. Their prices are very reasonable because they deliver directly to the consumer with no middleman. And with a very low advertising budget, they can offer consumers the lowest prices on prescription eyeglasses. Now all I have to do is make up my mind on which pair I will ultimately choose.

I got burnt!

July 3rd, 2008 -- Posted in Health, Life | No Comments »

This afternoon was such a gorgeous day outside that I took the kids outside all afternoon.  Although it was sunny and hot, we did have a nice cool breeze and it was probably the best afternoon so far this summer.  I did not realize until we came in for supper how badly I burnt my legs.  But after supper when I went to take the kids outside again I could feel my legs burning.  I looked down and discovered that I now have “lobster legs”.  And man does it ever burn.  So I came in the house and put on some jammie pants so my legs were covered but not in hot jeans.  So this evening I’m in quite a bit of agony.  Serves me right for not paying attention to the really hot weather today.

Finally!

June 26th, 2008 -- Posted in Health, Life | 2 Comments »

After months and months of trying to gain weight, I have very good news to report! I’ve gained! Now I know that some of you may be thinking that your envious of me but because I’m thin (I hate the word skinny), but don’t be…I have just as much trouble gaining weight as anyone does losing it. Yes I know I don’t have to worry about diets, weight loss pills or gym memberships, but I do have a lot of health issues to worry about.

Being so thin I have low blood, very low energy, and low blood pressure. These issues can be as major as someone who has too high counts of everything. How much did I gain you ask?? Well I went from an 89 when I first started trying to gain weight and am now 100 lbs. This doesn’t sound like much, but you have to understand that the only time in my life that I have been 100 lbs was when I was pregnant for the kids. So this number is a great accomplishment for me. Now if I could only gain another 10 lbs I will be one happy camper.

Do men ever listen to their wives??

May 14th, 2008 -- Posted in Family, Health | 3 Comments »

I really have to wonder if most men ever listen to their wives. After a conversation I had with my husband this morning it got me to wondering if it was just him or if this is the case with all men.

Here is the conversation that took place in my house first thing this morning. My husband asked me a question this morning. And, I answered him. Then he asked me to repeat the answer. So I did. Then he said that he couldn’t understand my first answer because it sounded like I was talking through my nose. Then he asked me WHY was I talking through my nose. I then replied back, “because I’m sick! I’ve been telling you for the past three days now that I’m sick!”

So this is why I asked my original question. Do they ever listen?? I can almost bet come tomorrow morning we will have the same discussion and he won’t remember that I am sick or I have told him for the past three days that I’m sick.

So….does your husband listen? I really want to know.

Protecting our earth

April 9th, 2008 -- Posted in Health, Home, Life | 1 Comment »

Preserving the earth’s land and waters needs to be a top priority for all citizens, but Columbia University is potentially going to threaten this very concept. They are planning on building a biohazard lab in Manhattan and the citizens of the Upper West side needs our help to Stop Columbia’s Expansion Project.

By building this biohazard lab, they are potentially destroying the Upper West Side and the Hudson river. This lab could threaten the very livelihood of all residents as well as wildlife and the environment. If the enviorment and it’s continued success are going to continue then we all need to get involved. If this is a concern of yours, then I highly suggest that you drop by their site, read up on all the information that they will provide you and help them save this area.

This could save your life

March 22nd, 2008 -- Posted in Health, Life | 1 Comment »

How many times have you left your home with no visible ID on you, but you have your phone? What if something bad happened and you needed medical attention? Without the medical personnel knowing anything about you, you could be in serious trouble. Well, this is where icesticker.com would come in and possibly save your life.

This is a program where you choose a responsible person to add as a reliable contact into your phone that knows all of your medical history and conditions. Then you would put the ICE sticker on the back of your phone so any medical personnelle would know who to contact in a medical emergency and possibly save your life. This is a wonderful program to add to your phone and could possibly be a life saver.

Oh…the memories

March 18th, 2008 -- Posted in Health, Life | 1 Comment »

Since I have been raised in the Maritimes, I have been raised on different types of seafood. Out of all the seafood that is available, I would have to say that my favorite seafood has to be the Gulf oysters. I can remember that every year my dad would get some given to him and him and I would have at least one serious pig out. Thank goodness neither one of us had an allergic reaction to seafood or were at risk consumers or this definitely wouldn’t have been a more pleasant memory for either one of us.

But now a days, at-risk consumers can enjoy the experience just as much as my dad and I did because Gulf Coast oyster processors have developed new technologies to ensure safer alternatives for at-risk consumers. At-risk consumers can now enjoy raw oysters if they so choose, but with reduced of catching sicknesses due to raw oyster consumption. So if they want to sit around the kitchen table pigging out on oysters like my dad and I did years ago, then the choice will be theirs.
