I love this time of year! This is the time of year that the craft fairs start to get going. And I for one am quite looking forward to these craft fairs. I have my first craft fair to attend to next weekend. So over the next week I’m going to put on quite a push to try to get as many crafts completed as I can. Hopefully if I can display a wide variety of items I can make a little extra cash. After all Christmas is only a couple of months away and with three kids and one husband to buy for money becomes a little tight this time of year. So… after the show I’ll be sure to pop in and let you all know how I made out.

I do a lot of crafts but lately really haven’t done much of anything. Well I got the crafting bug once again and yesterday dug out my scrapbooking supplies. I had already started a scrapbook for each of the kids but never got around to finishing anyone of them. So yesterday I dug out my daughter’s scrapbook that I had started and decided to work on it once again. I found a lot of her old Halloween party invitations from years gone by and decided to incorporate them into her scrapbook. I got quite a bit done yesterday and am quite pleased with myself. So… one down, two to go.

I have been creating jewelry and selling it for a while now. I normally stick with what I know which is glass beads and wires. But I have decided that I might just like to try something different. I’m thinking about creating some wire jewelry instead of using glass beads. I have bought a couple of magazines that gives you step by step instructions on wire management and on how to create that perfect piece of wire jewelry. It looks pretty easy but looks can be deceiving. So I think I’ll purchase some wire for this project and just see what I can create. If this jewelry turns out the way I want it to, then I’ll have something else that I can sell on my craft website.

Well now that I have a lot of crafts made up and sitting in my craft room I have decided to try my hand at selling these items at an upcoming craft fair. I have already registered for a table and am keeping my fingers crossed that this little venture will pay off. One of my friends participate in these events all the time and she has great success with it. Even though she sells plus size corsets and stuff like that and I don’t, I still think that I can achieve great results from these craft fairs. If this one works out for me, I will definitely be participating in more of these in the future.

For the past couple of days I have been working really hard on my crafting projects. I’ve been doing so much work on these projects that I’ve kind of let everything else go. So today is the day that I really have to get some other things done instead. I really don’t want to stop my crafting spree but if I don’t do some type of housework today I really think my husband is going to fire me. So I’m going to clean like crazy and hopefully still be able to get a little crafting in as well.

Well the knitting bug has hit me once again so the other day I searched the Internet to find a free afghan knitting pattern that I could try out. I found one that I really liked so after scrounging around to find needles and yarn, I decided to give this pattern a try. I haven’t gotten very far on the pattern yet, but I like what I see so far. If this pattern works out the way it’s supposed to I am planning on making another afghan for my daughter. So I guess that’s the type of craft I will be enjoying for a while.

Now with only a month left, I’ve been cracking down on trying to sell some of handmade craft creations. I have invested in some business card printing and have been passing out a lot of business cards. I have had a few sales this way so the expense of getting the business cards made up has really paid off. I only wish I had more crafts already made or more time to make some more. Oh well, lesson learned. Next year I will make sure that I have all the supplies that I need before the Christmas buying season begins.

This weekend is our annual Christmas craft fair in town. I plan on attending it this weekend but unfortunately again this year I won’t be putting a table in. I really wanted to put a table in this year but due to lack of inventory and crafting time I just don’t have enough stuff made up to make it worth my while. So I guess once again I’ll just be a spectator at this event and not a participate. One of these years I am going to put a table in. Just not this year.

So I have been busy creating crafts for my small home crafting business. But when I went to take a picture of my crafts with my camera I discovered that my digital camera is broken. So now I can’t upload any photos of my crafts. So… I’m going to have to check out some new cameras to find a cheap one to purchase so I can take some pictures and upload them on my website to make some sales.
There are so many digital cameras out there to choose from that I think this is going to be a very hard decision for me. But I need a new camera and I need one right away so I guess I’m going to have to make up my mind quickly and just make the purchase.

I just came across an excellent small business opportunity. For the past couple of months I have been trying to get my home crafting business off the ground. I haven’t been doing a very good job of it so I have decided to go in a different direction. I have decided to try to sell my creations through consignment selling. Yes, I realize that I would probably lose some profits doing it this way, but they way that I have been trying to do it doesn’t seem to be working out very well. So I will give this method a try and see how I make out. I’ll let you all know!
