Here is sit once again with both the kids home from school. Last night it started to snow and then during the night we were hit with freezing rain and ice pellets. So to say that the roads are quite dicey today is a serious understatement. So all the schools in our province declared today to be a snow day.
Actually the kids aren’t being real bad today so so far so good. Hopefully they keep this up for remainder of the day. And hopefully some of the sunshine that we see today will melt some of the ice off the roads so the kids can go back to school tomorrow. Otherwise, it’s going to be a very long weekend.

Both of the kids got their own digital camcorder for Christmas this year. Now before you think that we spoil our children rotten, they were discover kid’s camcorders and they were at a very good price. Well we discovered why they were such a good prices and that’s because they have no memory in them at all. My son was only able to take video for a little over a minute and my daughter didn’t fare much better.
So last weekend my husband went out and purchased them some memory cards for their camcorders so they can take longer videos. Well ever since he did that, you can’t get these units out of their hands. I really don’t mind that they are walking around shooting footage, I just really wish their mother wasn’t their intended target first thing in the morning. Not a pretty picture. LOL

Yesterday and today I have been experiencing the worst headache that I’ve had in a very long time. Now yesterday I could blame in on the two little people as they spent most of their day fighting, but I can’t do that today as they are both in school. So I’m thinking that it’s probably not the kids and more likely it’s my eyes. And since I haven’t had my eyes tested in well over two years I’m really starting to think that I need to make an appointment. But for today I have been popping headache pills and am now sitting here wearing my glasses. I really hope this headache goes away before the kids come home, otherwise I think this is going to be a very long afternoon.

Last week I was involved in a minor accident. Thankfully I wasn’t going very fast so when I became up close and personal with a snowbank, I did not get hurt. No need for a Seattle injury lawyer this time around. This accident certainly could have been a lot worse. When I hit the snowbank I did a little damage to the front end of my car. But my husband, the mechanic, said that this damage can be fixed at a relatively low cost. So I guess if I had to become friends with a snowbank, this experience didn’t turn out that bad.

Yesterday we got hit with another major snowstorm. The only good thing I can say about this storm is that it actually warmed up. After putting up with minus 30 degrees celsius temperatures for the past five days it was kind of nice to enjoy the warmth. Now onto the storm. We got 25 cm of snow and then it turned to freezing rain so the roads are a mess. Later on this afternoon the kids and I will go out and shovel the driveway. Having storms like this actually save me money. This way I don’t have to invest in any Ephadrasil hardcore products to keep my weight down. So this storm was a blessing and a curse. Hopefully it stops soon so the kids will be able to go back to school tomorrow.

I must say that I’m really starting to get annoyed with these telemarketers. Yes, I do have caller ID and tend to use it on a regular basis, but these telemarketers seem to be getting a little crafty these days. A couple of these companies try to call me on a daily basis so that they can give me a term life insurance quote, and it doesn’t really matter how many times I have said no thank you, they continually call back. So I see there number and then don’t answer it.
Well now they have started calling with a “private name: private number” feature and they mess me up each and every time. I have to answer it when the caller ID shows this on my phone, because this is what comes up when my kid’s school calls me. But you can bet that when the kids are home, I don’t answer these calls either. One of these days I hope they will finally take the hint and stop calling. Until then I guess I’ll only be able to rant and rave about them.

The other day I was looking through the archives on this blog and was quite surprised to realize that this blog has been up and running for a year now. Wow how time flies. I didn’t realize that a year ago I started this blog and have been posting on it pretty steadily ever since. This blog isn’t as popular or as active as I would like, but that is probably my fault. I don’t post on it as much as I did when I first started and I have kind of lost my focus with it as well. But as all things in life, life does go on and maybe this will be the year that I get this blog up and running the way I want it to.

After losing both my parents in the year 2004, there was one thing that I vowed to do and that was to try to stay close to my remaining family members. Now with my two brothers I have been able to do just that, but I haven’t spoke to my sister in four years. This does make me sad as we are family, but with the type of personality she has, reconnecting just isn’t in my best interest.
Last week my brother sent me a picture of my sister of what she looks like now and in all honesty, if I didn’t know it was her, I would have never ever guessed she was my sister. Since I’ve seen her last, she has put on over 200 lbs. This really can’t be too healthy and I’m thinking she should really invest in some kind of weight loss supplement. Now I don’t mean to be mean, but all this extra weight can’t be good for her health. But, unfortunately, this is probably as close as I will ever get to her, as getting involved in her life and her drama just isn’t healthy for me.

Well here we go again. I just got the kids back to school from a two week stay at home and my husband informs me that he is taking a week’s vacation next week. So…I will have him home for a week. But if he thinks he’s going to sit around and do nothing for a week, boy is he in for a surprise. I already have a major job picked out for him to do during that week. I have decided that next week will be the time that I will get him to put the new flooring in my home office. For the past six months he has used the excuse that he can’t put down the flooring because I have too much office furniture in there and he can’t get to the floor. So this week I plan on clearing the room out so the first of next week I can have my brand new flooring put up. I guess he won’t be so pleased that he took a week off, now will he?!
