I’m so spoiled

December 31st, 2008 -- Posted in Family, Life | No Comments »

This year for Christmas I was one lucky lady! My husband purchased me a brand new diamond ring. Not bad considering we’ve been together for almost 15 years. When I went down to my place of work to pick up my paycheck I showed my boss my new ring. She then commented on how spoiled I am. She was just kidding. She was really impressed. So to outdo my husband. she then informed me that her husband bought her two tv lifts for Christmas. Not very romantic eh?! But, it was something that she asked for. Now if I could only figure out what I did to deserve such a wonderful gift, maybe I could do it again. No, I’m just joking. It’s a beautiful gift and I will treasure it forever.

Expensive car

December 29th, 2008 -- Posted in Life | No Comments »

Last week I took my car in for it’s annual inspection and…it failed! My car is going to need quite a few new parts put on it to get it to pass. Sometimes I really have to wonder if driving my own car is worth it. Between the price of gas, car parts and even cheap auto insurance this car is starting to cost me a fortune. The only time that I really need it is on the weekends for when I go to work, but I really have to wonder if it’s worth it. My husband does have a car but I can’t drive it (it’s too big). So…I’m either going to have to suck it up and pay all this money for a weekend car, or I’m really going to have to learn how to drive his car. Either way I have to look at a new way to save cash on my car driving.

All I ever do is whine…

December 22nd, 2008 -- Posted in Health, Life | No Comments »

It seems like I’m never in here updating my blog and when I finally am able to stop in, all I do is whine. Well, I’m sorry for this. All I can say is that it’s been a pretty rough month for illnesses in our house. I have been sick now for almost a month and haven’t been able to get very much accomplished. Because I’m coughing my head off most of the night, I don’t get a whole lot of sleep so during the day I’m pretty exhausted and don’t have the energy for anything. Here it is only three days before Christmas and I still don’t have my tree up. The main reason for this is I lack the energy to move out all my books from my bookshelf so I move it and set the tree up where it normally sits. Even though I’m still not feeling good today, my goal is to finally get this tree up.

On a more positive note, I do now have some pretty powerful cough medicine. So hopefully I’ll start to feel better soon and be back posting a little more frequently.

Violin concert

December 15th, 2008 -- Posted in Kids, Music | No Comments »

Last week my daughter was supposed to perform in a huge violin Christmas concert. But due to crappy weather the concert got canceled. Well they rescheduled it for tomorrow night. Although the concert doesn’t start until 7:00 pm, she needs to be there at 6:00 pm. Then the concert runs from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. This is her first big concert so she is quite excited about it. So I have asked my husband to drop us off at 6:00 pm. Then him and my youngest son will come home (it’s too long of a performance for my little guy) and then when the concert is over we will catch a ride home with her grandfather.

The excitement is starting to build for her and tomorrow night she will get to perform in front of her largest crowd ever. Please keep your fingers crossed for her that it doesn’t storm. Otherwise, the entire concert will be canceled with no other date available.

Christmas vacation

December 10th, 2008 -- Posted in Kids | No Comments »

Normally I look forward to the time that the kids are home for the Christmas holidays but…not this year. This year I am not looking forward to all this time off as I will be babysitting another child that is the same age as my daughter and when these three kids get together, all they do is fight!! For the past month or so I have had this child in my home after school and on days that they don’t have any school and it hasn’t been fun. So just the thoughts of having three kids in the house full time for two weeks is making me wish I could check out different vacation rentals and run away. But, since that’s not possible, I’ll just have to work myself up for the upcoming two weeks. Even though I have already committed to this time, you can just bet that I will NOT be doing this when summer vacation hits.

Busy little bee

December 8th, 2008 -- Posted in Life | No Comments »

With less than three weeks until Christmas day and having almost nothing done, I’m starting to get a little overwhelmed. I have so much to do and so little time to do it in. Over the next few days I need to finish purchasing presents, wrap them all, do all my housework and get my daughter ready for two violin concerts. When I see all this work written down like this, that’s when I start to feel overwhelmed. Because there has been so much illness in my house of late, I haven’t been able to get much accomplished. So with only three weeks left I have to put a major push on. Oh…did I forget to mention that I also have an outside job and babysit and extra kid every day after school?? Where does the time go??

Disaster in my bedroom

December 5th, 2008 -- Posted in Home | No Comments »

Well let me tell you all about a not so fun experience I had last night. Currently my hot water tank is located in my bedroom. Well last night I heard this swishing sound down the hall and went down to investigate. Well much to my dismay I found that my hot water tank broke. There was water all over the place. And since we have carpet in our bedroom, this made one heck of a mess. I was really wishing that I had a tankless water heater. So I took everything out of my room except for the bed and the dressers and grabbed the shop vac. I think I got most of the water sucked up. Hopefully it doesn’t ruin my carpet. But I guess time will tell on that one. So…did I really want to be cleaning up a huge water mess at 9:00 pm on a Thursday night?? No, I did not! But that’s what I got to do last night.

I really don’t like surprises

December 3rd, 2008 -- Posted in Family, Life | No Comments »

I’m really not a person who likes surprises. I do like Christmas, but really hate the surprises and anticipation that comes along with it. Especially living with my husband. Last weekend he stopped at the store and bought me a Christmas present. He got them to wrap it and then brought it home. Instead of just not saying a word, he tells me about his shopping trip, shows me the box and then makes me sit there trying to guess what it was. Well obviously it’s not any discount furniture as the box was too small, but for the life of me I had no clue as to what it was. And that’s the way he wanted it. So…for the next 22 days, I get to sit here and wonder what is in this tiny little box.

Oh…did I mention. I really don’t like surprises!
