Three birthday parties coming up

September 11th, 2008 -- Posted in Entertainment, Kids | No Comments »

For the most part our neighborhood is a pretty good place to live. Except for one family, all the families on the street get along really well. And all the kids play together. The only problem is that most of the other kids that live on this street are quite a bit younger than my two. But my two kids play with them and they are actually quite gentle with them.

Well last night I was informed by two different neighbors that their kids birthdays are coming up soon and the kids are going to be invited to their parties. I do think this is a little silly considering that my kids are so much older than these kids, but since they play together on a regular basis I have told the kids they can go. Now all I have to do is go out and purchase some presents. For the two little girls I have decided to purchase them dollhouses and for the little boy I am going to get him some Spiderman toys. Thankfully birthdays only come once a year, otherwise I could become very poor living in this neighborhood.

September 11

September 11th, 2008 -- Posted in Family, Life | No Comments »

This is most certainly a day that will go down in history. I’m sure everyone will agree that all humans will never forget this day ever. And not for a good reason. But this day also marks a very special but sad anniversary in our home as well. Last year on this date my mother in law passed away from stomach cancer.

She was diagnosed with stomach cancer two years previously. She went through all the major treatments that are currently available and even had major surgery as well. But unfortunately this measures didn’t keep her here on earth with us. She is sadly missed each and every day, but this day is especially hard for her entire family.

She will never be forgotten and along with the memories of the 911 victims, I will have some pretty sad memories of this day in honor of her as well.

I did good!

September 10th, 2008 -- Posted in Health | No Comments »

I was quite surprised at myself this past summer. I got my home gym up and running with all my exercise equipment and worked out faithfully every day. Well maybe not every day. I did skip some weekends to go camping. But I certainly used my equipment a lot more this summer than I ever have in the past. But with fall shortly approaching and winter just around the corner I can see myself not using my home gym quite so much. During the winter months I just don’t have the determination and drive to workout like I do in the spring and summer. But no worries, the gym will always be there if I decide that I want to continue using it. It’s just in the past I haven’t. Maybe this winter will be different. Who knows??

Glad to see I’m not the only one

September 10th, 2008 -- Posted in Health, Kids, Life | No Comments »

Wow I was starting to feel all alone in life! My daughter who just turned 10 is starting to act like a teenager. The attitude that she is displaying these days towards myself, my husband and my son has almost gotten out of hand. I talk and talk to her until I’m blue in the face about being nice and respecting people, but it seems like everything I say has gone way…over her head. Well I was talking to a couple of friends of mine who have daughters around the same age and apparently they are going through the same thing. So I guess I’m not alone in this world of upcoming teenage-hood. I can’t wait until the day she finds a huge pimple and is screaming at me to go purchase her some acne cream. I guess when that day comes she will then appreciate dear old mom. Until that day arrives all I can do is grin and bear it and bask in the knowledge that I’m not alone. lol

No sale yet

September 10th, 2008 -- Posted in Family, Home | No Comments »

My father in law has had his home on the market for almost two months now with no sale as of yet. Earlier on when he first put the home on the market he did have two offers, but due to financing problems these two offers fell through. He has had a lot of people come in and look at the place, but no takers yet. Yesterday his real estate agent had an agent caravan and some of the comments by real estate agents were pretty rude. All I can say is that they are lucky I wasn’t around or they would have certainly gotten a piece of my mind.

One agent in particular wouldn’t have wanted to meet me. She was overheard saying that his house is a complete tear down. There is nothing in that house worth saving. WTH?? It has four bedrooms, a complete basement and a garage. What more does she want in life. Thankfully my father in law didn’t hear her. It would have broken his heart to find out that these people (and I use that word lightly) thought his house was junk! One of these days he will find someone who appreciates his house. And until then I think these agents should probably keep their comments to themselves.

I did it!

September 9th, 2008 -- Posted in Crafts | No Comments »

Well I finally did it!! I broke down and ordered some personalized pens for my home crafting business. I have put this purchase off for quite some time now because I haven’t made a whole lot of profits off my business yet and what little profits I have made, I didn’t want to spend it on advertising. But over the past few months I discovered that word of mouth advertising just wasn’t working out for me. So I convinced my investor (my husband, lol) to pay for this purchase for me. Hopefully I will have them in time for a couple of craft shows I plan on attending. This way I can hand them out and hopefully get more exposure for my business which would hopefully lead to more sales. Then maybe, just maybe I could pay back my investor.

Starting a collection

September 9th, 2008 -- Posted in Kids, Sports | No Comments »

Although my youngest son is only 8, he is heavily into sports. He likes to play sports, watch sports on TV and read sports magazines. For his size (he’s quite tiny) he is actually quite good at most sports. He mainly plays only soccer and basketball. But has started to show an interest in other sports as well. One of the sports that he has really started getting into is the game of golf. He has started bringing home golf magazines from the school library and has indicated that he would like to start collecting golf balls. I think what he really wants to collect is anything to do with Tiger Woods and if he could get one of his golf balls I know he would be in his glory.

Getting back on track??

September 8th, 2008 -- Posted in Life | No Comments »

Man I had so many dreams of getting back to a normal routine and getting a lot of things done when the kids went back to school and unfortunately none of my dreams have materialized. Although I have a lot more FREE time on my hands then I did when the kids were home, I just can’t seem to get it together. It’s almost like I have forgotten to stay on track after a couple months break. But I have so much I need to get done that I really have to get my focus back. I am getting there, but in a very slow manner. Hopefully over the next couple of weeks, I can find my groove and then start posting that I’m back in life where I want to be.

He grew!

September 4th, 2008 -- Posted in Kids, Life | No Comments »

I am so proud of my youngest son. Even though he’s 8, he is very tiny for his age. This year entering grade 3 I sent him off to school in size 6 clothes. But it’s still a size bigger than when he entered grade 2 last year. He is so happy now that he is getting bigger! Most of the time his size doesn’t bother him, but there are times when it does. He did make a comment the other day that he is the smallest in his class once again this year. But as I explained to him, he has grown in the past so he will grow more in the future. So now I have to go through his dresser again and get rid of all the size 5’s. My little man is growing up!
