Getting ready for winter

September 27th, 2008 -- Posted in Home, Life | No Comments »

When I was growing up, the house we lived in was extremely cold. It was so cold in the winter that if you placed a bucket of water on my bedroom floor at night time, the next morning it would be frozen. Well after 18 years of living in a freezer I vowed that when I grew up and had my own place I would never ever live in a cold house.

Well my house isn’t cold, but my bedroom is. Not quite as cold as the house I grew up in, but it’s running a close second. So every year when I know winter is on it’s way I haul out my heated mattress pads. Although these pads don’t make my room any warmer, they sure do make my bed a lot warmer. The only problem I have now is that I never want to get out of bed in the mornings.

She hung up on her father!

September 27th, 2008 -- Posted in Kids | No Comments »

My daughter is only 10 but she has a massively wicked temper. This morning her temper was out in full force and there was absolutely nothing I could do about it. The day started out like it normally does with the kids getting into a major fight before 9:00 am. So I sent them to their rooms for a little quite time. Well my daughter was mad so she started yelling and screaming. After 20 minutes of listening to this, I called her father. She didn’t know I was placing the phone call so she was still screaming when he was on the phone. He told me to put her on and tried to talk to her. Well that didn’t work. Apparently she didn’t like what she heard and she hung up on him!! Well that didn’t go over very well. When he called back, he spoke to her again and I’m not real sure what was said, but I don’t think she liked it.

When he gets home from work he will be speaking to her and I’m pretty sure there will be some grounding because of her hanging up on him. Man, I’m glad I’m not her.

Great deal

September 24th, 2008 -- Posted in Entertainment | No Comments »

Yesterday a friend of mine and I were talking down at the bus stop about the different types of mobile devices that are out on the market these days. I was mentioning that I wanted to get a new one, but was unclear as to the best type to get. So she showed me hers and told me if I bought that brand, that I would be able to get a flash memory card at a really cheap price. Well when I heard the word “cheap” I took a closer look at the mobile device that she owns. So my decision was made for me. If the accessories are cheap then I have problem purchasing that brand.

Inexpensive traveling

September 22nd, 2008 -- Posted in Life | No Comments »

Although I don’t do a whole lot of traveling for my job, one of my brothers is constantly jumping on an airplane and traveling around the globe for his job. His family also takes quite a few vacations which requires a lot of air travel as well. Up until last year when he was traveling with his family he always paid by credit card, but never was able to cash on any airline credit card rewards. So he started looking on the Internet for credit cards which would offer him some type of discount or rewards when he needed to fly.

One site which helped him out quite a bit was credit-card-analyzer.com. This site lists all the different types of credit cards that are available to consumers who are looking for credit cards that will help them save money on their frequent flying. They list these different cards by which ones they think are the best, the interest rates attached with each card and the different black out restrictions as well. These site will come in very handy for any frequent traveler. Not only can they help you pick out the right card that will save you a lot of money when you do travel, but they will also help you find the best card for you for your individual situation.

Silent treatment is over

September 18th, 2008 -- Posted in Family, Work | No Comments »

Yay! He’s speaking to me again. As it turns out, last week he was having a seriously horrible week at work and his mood had nothing to do with me. So even though he was having a bad week, I’m glad it had nothing to do with me.

Well on Tuesday he asked me to type up a resume for him. This is when I knew that he had enough. He already has had two different offers of employment from other companies, but if he went to work for them he will end up taking a serious cut in pay. Well he doesn’t want to do that. So for now he will stay but he is putting his resume out there to other companies that pay about the same as what he is getting now. Hopefully he finds something different soon. I really don’t think I could survive another week like I did last week.

But at least things are back to normal for now.

The silent treatment

September 15th, 2008 -- Posted in Family | No Comments »

Nothing in life drives me crazier than someone giving me the silent treatment. And my husband is probably the worst person I know that does this. I just spent a very long week last week of him not talking to me. I had no idea whether I did something wrong or not because he wouldn’t open up his mouth to tell me. Well you can just imagine what was running through my mind. Because he wouldn’t discuss what was on his mind, of course I’m thinking I did something wrong. Well I’m happy to say that the silent treatment is over for now. And guess what?! He wasn’t mad at me, he was upset about some stuff that was going on a work. If he had of just told me work was bothering him, I wouldn’t have spent an entire week thinking I did something that was so horrible he couldn’t talk about it. So for now he’s talking to me. I guess we will see how long that lasts. lol

Weekend plans

September 12th, 2008 -- Posted in Entertainment, Family | No Comments »

This weekend the family will be headed out to the annual car show. This particular show focuses on the newer type cars and their after market parts. And with my husband and my son being such avid car fans, this is one event that they both look forward to all year long. It doesn’t really hold much interest for my daughter and I, but at least it’s a day out and it is an event where they whole family can have a little fun.

My youngest son is still talking about the car show that we attended last year. You really should have seen his face light up when he got to see all the newer Corvettes on display. He marvelled at all the new and shiny Corvette rims and wheels that are now available for these types of cars. He was impressed with some of the other cars as well, but I really think he is going to be a corvette man when he grows up. His father is. Too bad we can’t afford a corvette of our own. My husband would really be in his glory then.

Running out of money

September 12th, 2008 -- Posted in Life, Work | No Comments »

I know that I’ve been complaining a lot lately about our money situation. This is part of the reason why I am headed back into the workforce. With all the expenses coming due for the kids school and our day to day expenses, our dollars just don’t seem to be stretching quite as much as it has in the past.

Well now I need to go out and spend more money. A year and a half ago when I quit my job I had no intentions of ever returning so I threw out everything that was related to work. Well now that I’m going back, I need to go out and purchase some new uniform pieces. Honestly I never ever thought I would be headed back there so I figured that I would never need this clothes again. Well I do. So this weekend I have to shopping again. More money will have to be spent. But with a steady paycheck coming in once again, I will be able to recoup this money.

Going back to work

September 11th, 2008 -- Posted in Work | No Comments »

Well it’s official. I’m headed back to the workforce. About a year and a half I go I left my full time job to become a stay at home mom. For the first little while I really enjoyed myself and was quite happy that I didn’t have to go to work any longer. But as time wore on, I started to get restless. So I started thinking about going back to work but couldn’t figure out how I can do it with no babysitter and my husband working really crazy hours. So I put all thoughts about going back to work out of my head and just concentrated on my blogging and my home based business.

Well yesterday my old boss called me with an offer I couldn’t refuse. She is willing to work around my babysitter problems as well as my husband’s crazy hours. Although it would only mean about 12 hours a week, that’s fine for me for now. So on Sunday I will be headed back to my old place of employment. I really hope this works out and I enjoy it.
