Shhhh it’s a secret

For the past couple of weeks I have been wondering what’s up with my daughter.  As you all know, she is learning how to play the violin this year.  Well one of her requirements to stay with this program is that she needs to practice at least 20 minutes a day for five days out the week.  The other two days it’s up to her if she practices or not and up until a couple of weeks ago, she hasn’t been practicing for these two days.  So you can imagine my confusion for the past couple of weeks when she has been digging out the violin.  Even on days that she doesn’t have to.

But I know the secret.  But don’t tell her I know she would be very disappointed.  Tomorrow is my 40th birthday so all this practicing is actually her birthday present to me.  She has practicing her little heart out trying to learn the “happy birthday” song.  She confided to her father that this is her special treat to me.  I have to tell you all that this is probably the BEST birthday present anyone can give me.

So until tomorrow we all need to keep a secret.  OK

What a wonderful surprise! I know you must be very proud. My son took up the trombone for two years in middle school. Thankfully, we lived in a rural area atop a large hill in the middle of the woods. He would take his trombone out on the deck and practice and practice. I am not sure that the bears, turkeys and bob cats have ever regained their hearing. He gave up the trombone for the guitar, acoustic, thank the Lord.
