News letter from school

April 30th, 2008 -- Posted in Kids, School | No Comments »

Unbelievable.  I can’t believe what our school district is up to now.  I got a news letter sent home today concerning the French program at the school.  They have decided to make a few changes and let me tell you, I’m not really pleased with these changes.  Starting next year all the grade 5’s will have to take half a year French.  Then the second half of the year everything will be taught in English.  There will be no French program for Grades 1-4 (that means my son will have no French instruction for two years, but have half a year in Grade 5).  I think that these changes are too much all at once.  But the school has decided to adopt this new strategy so I guess we will just have to wait and see what next year brings.  All I can say is I don’t like it and I wish they had of consulted the  parents of these changes before deciding to implement them.

We need to get a bigger driveway

April 27th, 2008 -- Posted in Entertainment, Family, Home | No Comments »

It has finally come down to this.  We either need to get a bigger driveway, or start selling off some of our junk stuff.  Right now we have a fairly small driveway but we have two cars, one truck, one four wheeler, and a pop up camper trailer.  You would think that this would be enough, wouldn’t you??  But nope my husband is right now looking at a motorbike to purchase.  I completely understand his need for “big boy toys”, but when they start to take over the driveway and I have to park on the side of the road I honestly do believe enough is enough.  Hopefully he will slow down a little after this purchase and decide if we need less junk stuff or a bigger driveway.

Yard sale season straight a head

April 24th, 2008 -- Posted in Crafts | 1 Comment »

Because my father in law is planning on selling his current home and buying something smaller, he needs to get rid of a lot of stuff.  So he has decided to have a few yard sales during the spring and summer months.  This is great news for me, as it will give me a chance to try to sell some of the jewelry that I have been making.  I already told him to let me know when he plans on having his first one as I plan to have a lot of jewelry made up and hopefully sell it all.  But, even if I don’t I think it is still a great idea for him to not only get rid of a pile of stuff, but he will also be able to make a little extra money in the process.  He plans on having his first one in a couple of weeks, so I need to get busy creating.  I have all the supplies, now all I need is the motivation.

Great visit

April 19th, 2008 -- Posted in Friends | 1 Comment »

So on Wednesday my best friend called me up to say she was popping by for coffee.  We hadn’t seen one another for almost four years so it was great news to me that she was coming for a visit.  When she arrived with coffee in hand, we got to talking and it was like we had always been as if their were no separation between us.

We got caught up on all the gossip about the kids, her grand-kids and the husband.  It was an awesome visit and I really hope that it doesn’t take us another four years to get it together.  I didn’t realize until that day how much I really missed our talks and get together’s.  We have both promised to try to be a little better in our communications in the future.  So, we will see.

I’m so excited

April 16th, 2008 -- Posted in Friends | 1 Comment »

My best friend who I haven’t seen in over four years is coming to visit.  We talk on the phone all the time and through e-mails but that’s not the same thing as sitting in front of one another and chit chatting.  Oh…I can’t wait.  Now I have to go clean my house so she doesn’t think I’m a total slob.  But since we have known one another for 15 years, she is quite used to me by now.

So, this is ending up to be a very short post, but I’ll be back later after my friend goes home.  Off to clean now. lol

Help for small business

April 13th, 2008 -- Posted in Internet, Work | No Comments »

Last May I found myself in a very sticky situation. I had to quit my full time job as I didn’t have a babysitter any longer. So then I needed to find a way to earn a little extra income working from home. So I decided to set up a home crafting business. At the time of set up, I never realized how much work actually went into running a home business of this type. It wasn’t too long into my setup when I realized that I would need a little help from some professionals.

Some of the professional services that I found I would need to invest in were accounting services, inventory setup and other types of software applications. I have found that most of these services can add up to quite a bit of money, but I have found some reasonable service prices as well as one free one.

For anyone who owns a business, I have found a company over at Journyx.com. This company offers the business owner cutting-edge software applications such as web-based time, expense and project tracking solutions. And, they offer all these services for FREE. They also offer a full range of professional services as well. If your a business owner and think that this type of web based service would be something that you would need, why not drop by their site, read all about different customer’s Timesheet success stories and find out how you can get this services absolutely free.

First barbecue of the season

April 13th, 2008 -- Posted in Entertainment, Family | No Comments »

Well you know that spring has finally arrived when people start getting out their barbecues and inviting family and friends over for a wonderful meal.  Well that is what we have planned for today.  We will be headed out to my father-in-laws a little later on today for a nice barbecue.  We normally go up their every Sunday for dinner (or we take him out) but this weekend he has decided to haul out the barbecue.

The kids are quite excited about this event.  Not only do they get to spend time with their grandfather, but they get an awesome dinner as well.  It’s a little cloudy and cold out right now.  I hope it warms up before the barbecue so we can eat outdoors.  But if not, that’s OK.  We will still be able to have barbecued food anyway.

Protecting our earth

April 9th, 2008 -- Posted in Health, Home, Life | 1 Comment »

Preserving the earth’s land and waters needs to be a top priority for all citizens, but Columbia University is potentially going to threaten this very concept. They are planning on building a biohazard lab in Manhattan and the citizens of the Upper West side needs our help to Stop Columbia’s Expansion Project.

By building this biohazard lab, they are potentially destroying the Upper West Side and the Hudson river. This lab could threaten the very livelihood of all residents as well as wildlife and the environment. If the enviorment and it’s continued success are going to continue then we all need to get involved. If this is a concern of yours, then I highly suggest that you drop by their site, read up on all the information that they will provide you and help them save this area.

In the world of Entrecard

April 6th, 2008 -- Posted in Blogging, Internet | 6 Comments »

A couple of months ago, I joined a wonderful traffic exchange program called Entrecard. I am amazed at the results that I have seen by participating in this program. Not only has it increased my own traffic levels, but I have read a lot of new and interesting blogs. Since I started in the program, I started doing a post once a week to thank the top droppers who have visited my site on a regular basis. But I have found once a week to be a little overwhelming (I try to do this on all my blogs in the system), so I have decided to do this post every two weeks instead. So for you top droppers, here is my thanks for the past couple of weeks.

1. 60 Were Enough
2. Fatherlyours.com
3. Money, Love, and Changge
4. My Cornerstone Trio
5. Asian Hot Beauty
6. Cromely’s World
7. All In A Day
8. Cheaper By the Half Dozen
9. El Gigante Verdoso
10. StewartSchatz.com

Thanks for the drops guys! I really appreciate it!
