Rambling On

Normally the kids go out to play in the afternoon but in the evenings we usually stay in. Well not lately. The temperatures have been so hot these past couple of days that we’ve had no choice but to go sit outside for most of the evening. But I’m not complaining, it’s been kind of nice. My husband sits there and smokes his cigars and has a couple of drinks and the kids and I sit there with him. If it wasn’t for this unbearable heat, I’d say that right now we are all having a pretty good time these days in the evenings.

Can you tell that I’m excited?? The kids have only one week left until they go back to school and I couldn’t be happier!! This has been a very long summer. These two kids have spent most of their summer fighting and I haven’t been able to get very much done these past couple of months. I have a couple of quilting jobs that I really need to get a start on. But having two kids underfoot has prevented me from getting started. But in one week they will be back in school and I can haul out my sewing machine once again.

At the first of the summer my husband was informed that he would not be able to take his two weeks vacation during the summer. So he then decided to take his vacation time in bits and pieces. Last weekend he had the weekend off so he also took Monday and Tuesday of this week off as well. We really didn’t do very much of anything but it was still nice that he was able to get this little bit of extra time off. So I guess this is the way he will end up getting his vacation this year. Oh well, it’s better than not getting it at all.

For the past couple of days I have been busy working on my crafting business. I have created three sets of jewelry and am extremely pleased with the results. Even though I absolutely love working with glass beads, I would absolutely love to create some pieces with wholesale diamonds. But since the supplies would cost me a great deal I guess I’ll have to wait until I can make some money on my current creations before that dream comes true. But I’m having fun and I’m slowly building up my inventory list. Hopefully soon I’ll be able to start selling my stuff again and start making some money.

Well it’s another beautiful weekend and we are all stuck at home. My husband has to work this weekend so we really can’t do much of anything. Hopefully he will be finished quite early today and then we might be able to do something a little fun today. But we won’t be able to go camping. I really can’t wait until this summer is over. Maybe then I won’t feel so bad that we weren’t able to do much of anything this year.

Well the decision is made. I have decided that once the children are back in school full time I’m going to start decreasing my hours at my job. Lately I’ve been seriously unhappy there and I think it’s about time I start to look for something else. I don’t want to completely leave my job until I find something else part time. But it will be nice not having to clean all the hand dryers, the bathrooms, the bread bar…. well you get the drift. I’m a waitress and not a cleaner and I would dearly love a job doing only waitressing responsibilities.

Since the last few days have been rainy and cold I decided to start thoroughly cleaning my house. I have started in our bedroom and I’m going to work my way down the trailer. I have started throwing out a lot of stuff and am trying to make some more room in our home. It really does amaze me at how much junk I’ve collected over the past several years. I don’t imagine I’ll get much more done this week as the weather is supposed to be really nice and I will want to spend more time outside. But I’ve made a start on it and that’s the main thing.

I am so annoyed at my husband’s insurance company! Two weeks ago he purchased a Jeep Liberty and I was so excited. Well I’m not really excited any more. After he switched over his insurance he asked about putting me on as a second driver. Well the extra money they quoted him just isn’t worth me getting behind the wheel. I really wish he would switch insurance companies because I know he could get a cheaper quote somewhere else. But he doesn’t want to because he also gets cheap home insurance from them where we can’t get from anyone else. Oh well, I do have my own car so it’s not a real big deal. It’s just annoying that’s all.
