Super busy weekend

February 8th, 2010 -- Posted in Work | No Comments »

If we are still in a recession, I can’t see it. This past weekend at my work, it was so… busy. Both Saturday and Sunday were so busy that I was late getting out of work both days. Not only did I have a lot of customers to wait on, but the hand dryers in the bathrooms broke as well, so I spent quite a bit of time on the telephone trying to get someone in to look at them as well. Now normally I don’t mind when it’s super busy as work (it makes the time go by faster), but when your the only waitress on, life can get a little rough. But… the good news is, next weekend is my last weekend at work, so after that I won’t be quite so busy any more.

My computer sucks!

February 2nd, 2010 -- Posted in Internet | No Comments »

I’m really starting to despise computers. My computer especially has been giving me a great deal of trouble lately. Every morning (and yes, I mean every morning) I will turn it on and wait anywhere from 15 to 20 minutes for it to load up to the computer. Then… when I’m finally able to get online, the stupid thing jams up. So I have to unplug it and take the battery out and restart it again. Normally after I do this, it does work okay. But just trying to get online first thing in the morning, has become a serious pain.

I really do need a new unit, but until I’m done paying for my car, I just can’t see this happening. Oh well, I guess I’ll just have to keep doing what I’m doing with it, and pray to god that the computer fairy might head my way soon.

Man… that’s cold!

February 1st, 2010 -- Posted in general | No Comments »

This morning I woke up to temperatures that were at minus 20 degrees. Man…. that’s cold! So… being the nice mother that I am, I went out and started my car and drove both the kids to their bus stops. It really was too cold for them to walk. We are supposed to have temperatures like this for the next few days, so it looks like I will be driving them both for a couple of days. At least this morning we have no wind chill factor or it could be deadly cold.

Oh… the memories

January 29th, 2010 -- Posted in Kids, Life | No Comments »

Last night my husband and I were looking through the pictures on our camcorder and I have to say that I absolutely loved it. There were so many pictures on it that I had completely forgot about. There was a lot of pictures of the kids when they were quite a bit smaller and it was nice to sit back and replay all the memories in my head. Life gets so busy these days, that sometimes it’s just best to sit back and enjoy the memories. Kids don’t stay small for very long, so this was actually quite nice just to sit back and remember the days when they were so little.

I’m almost nuts!

January 25th, 2010 -- Posted in Kids | No Comments »

Here it is only 10:00 am on a Monday morning, and I’m just about completely nuts!! My children are home from school today due to weather issues and they haven’t stopped fighting since 7:00 am this morning. Nothing…. and I mean nothing I have said to them have made a difference. I’ve even put them both in their rooms for a little time out and they still continue to fight through the walls. I really hope the roads are clear tomorrow, or I really may end up in the nut house.

Sick kid

January 22nd, 2010 -- Posted in Health, Kids | No Comments »

Well once again I have a sick kid at my house. I don’t know if this child gets sick so much because of the sever change in temperature that we seem to get or possibly I need to invest in an air filter to clear the air in this house. But it seems like this child gets sick all the time. Thankfully it’s the weekend so he will have three days to recover. But I still feel bad for him. He gets the flue more than anybody I know.

Possible career change

January 21st, 2010 -- Posted in Internet, School | No Comments »

Most of you may not know this, but I work outside the home as a waitress at a very busy family restaurant. Now most days I absolutely love my job, but physically it is getting kind of hard on me. I am on my feet constantly and most days am running around the restaurant as opposed to walking. This is why I have decided that this may be the time for me to make a career change.

I have decided to check out an online university to see what type of career change I may be interested in. I discovered a site over at Western Governors University which offers a lot of online courses that I could possibly be interested in. One of the courses that I have been heavily checking out is their bachelors degree online, and so far I like what I see. Not only are the classes done completely online (which eliminates travel time), but their professors are some of the best in their field. And when it’s all said and done, I will have a degree that is highly recognized in the industry. So… while I’m still making up my mind on whether this will be a good move for me, I will continue to check out this site a little more closely.

I was asked to check out this website and give my honest opinion of Western Governors University, for which I’m receiving cash compensation.

I took a night off

January 20th, 2010 -- Posted in Health, Work | No Comments »

Normally I work every Tuesday night. But this week I offered my shift to another girl who didn’t have a lot of hours this week and took the night off. It was a good thing that I did this actually. Yesterday I ended up with the worst headache that I’ve had in a long time and I really don’t think I would have been able to work anyway. But after a great night’s sleep, I’m back to 100% today. I have to go back to work tomorrow, but I think after another good night’s sleep tonight I will be ready for that shift. But it was still nice to take the night off even if I wasn’t feeling the best.
